Blind Tiger Pub
When it comes to the Blind Tiger Pub, the name itself says it all. Coined in the late 1800s, the name was a common phrase that usually described sordid establishments. These places allowed illicit gambling and drinking behind closed doors in an era of increased temperance legislation. The current Blind Tiger Pub pays homage to this side of Charleston’s cultural roots in a historic building that dates back to the early 1800s and boasts many ghostly encounters.

Mills House Hotel
The Great Fire of 1861 decimated much of Charleston. It nearly reached the Mills House Hotel, a still-operational hotel, but was stopped short of devouring it by soldiers and hotel staff’s efforts. Unfortunately, the fire burned many nearby residents, and the hotel was used as a makeshift burn ward. Several residents perished in the hotel from their burns. Though the victims passed, it’s believed many of them still inhabit the hotel.

Pirate’s House
The city’s colorful history of pirate infestations, including the infamous Blackbeard who took the city hostage in 1718, make this house and its pirate lore a must-see stop on this Charleston ghost tour. When the siege ended, he abandoned many of his shipmates to the city’s forces, who executed every last one of them. Their ghosts can still be heard and seen at their old stomping grounds, forever haunting and seeking revenge.
